About This Coach

Bo Atterberry joined the Javelina staff in 2007 after serving as defensive coordinator at Southeastern Oklahoma, which won or shared the Lone Star Conference North Division title each of the three years he coached. Since taking over as head coach at Texas A&M—Kingsville, the Javelinas have shown steady improvement, proving in 2008 to be the most prolific passing team in the school’s history and finishing the season ranked 12th in the nation for passing, 7th for rushing defense and 4th in kickoff returns in Division II.

Team and Coach Involvement in the Community

• Players and coach regularly visit Driscoll Children’s Hospital
• Players and staff play a key role in the quarterly “Trash Off” days in Kingsville
• Coach Atterberry hosts summer youth football camps
• Hosts a one-day camp during the season for children as part of the Take a Kid to the Game program
• Worked with football players and coaches to construct a new city park in Kingsville
• He and his team are actively involved in food drives for the Samaritan Food Pantry of Kingsville
• He and his team are involved in the Toys for Tots Kingsville campaign
• He takes a group of football players to area schools as part of the Just Say No to Drugs campaign
• Football players read to elementary students at locals schools
• He takes a turn in the dunking booth during the campus-wide Fall Festival
• He makes himself available to speak to any civic group
• He and his team help out during the “Day of the Young Child” each spring at Javelina Stadium
