About This Coach

One of only three active coaches inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, Joe Paterno has spent 60 years on the sidelines at Penn State. Since taking over as head coach in 1966, Paterno has amassed a record of 393-129-3, the most victories in Division I-A coaching history. He graduated from Brown University and planned to attend Boston University’s law school before accepting an assistant coaching position at Penn State.
