In just his second season as the Pittsburg State head coach, Tim Beck has taken the Gorillas to their 17th all-time appearance in the D2 playoffs. Beck served for 16 years as the Gorillas’ offensive coordinator and 23 seasons as a member of the Pitt State coaching staff before becoming head coach in December of 2009. In his tenure, he has helped Pitt State become the all-time winningest D2 football program and this season he led them to a 9-1 record, a first-round bye in the D2 playoffs and the 2011 MIAA Championship. Coach Beck and his team have been awarded the MIAA Community Engagement of Excellence for the program’s civic and charitable activities.

COMMUNITY COMMITMENT
- Coach has actively raised funds and made personal gifts on behalf of his nephew (who has aplastic anemia) to further anemia research
- Members of the team helped out in Joplin, MO after the tornado struck
- Coach, along with several players, visited Class LTD, a center for developmentally disadvantaged youth
- Team participated in PSU Big Event, where they provided free lawn service, trash pick-up and yard work for local elderly and disadvantaged families
- Members of the team welcomed students back to campus for the first day of classes
- Team held “Ladies Night at the Pitt” event this summer will all proceeds going to the Via Christie Cancer Center and Angels Among Us
- Team hosts free YMCA youth clinic every August
