"Through the darkest days of the 2000-2006 term, the Alabama football program always had the athletic talent but it was missing the direction, focus, intensity -- it was missing the leadership to take it back to its traditional level of prominence. Nick Saban's leadership made that happen. He influened players that joined the Crimson Tide prior to his arrival -- Javier Arenas, Mike Johnson, Terrence Cody, Roy Upchurch -- to be all they could be. And his leadership both on and off the field is an indication where the Tide is today -- Champions."

"Coach Patterson has united the entire campus at TCU. He has a way of teaching his players, that inspires them to do their best, on and off the field. Students at other campuses have commented on their good sportsmanship. What a pleasure it is to know that our future leaders are being taught important lessons that will carry them through life. Many thanks, Coach Patterson."

"If the selection board really took the opportunity to get to know Coach Troxell they would see what type of coach he is, what type of man he is and the extent of involvement he is in his charity of Laurens First & Goal and realize this coach is exactly what "Coach of the Year" is all about!"

"Coach P has been able to do the most difficult, establish a great program without the National Top HS recruits. He is truly the most effective coach in Division IA."

"Gary Patterson... TCU Horned Frogs.... undefeated -- playing in Fiesta Bowl... non AQ school ranked in top 5 in country - likely top 2 after Fiesta Win. Tremendous coaching job - recruits talent and perfects it! Tremendous defense and great offense.. only top 20 team with top 5 offense and defense with defense No 1 ! A first class coach for a first class team of a first class university in a first class city in the finest state in the nation !!! "

"I graduated from TCU in 1988 when Jim Wacker was the coach. What has happened under Gary is just tremendous. TCU is a small Christian university and the acedemics are rigorous. What a great coach to get the student athelete to perform at a high level."
